Our Approach
Published psychedelic science has mapped therapeutic doses with precision, but stops around 25 mg synthetic psilocybin. Ultra-high-dose ranges remain scientifically uncharted. Our research investigates this gap to determine whether these states reveal recurring, previously unknown information that could inform fields such as neuroscience, technology, ecology, and consciousness itself. Our two-phase design begins with structured phenomenological mapping, followed by controlled observational studies comparing high and ultra-high doses. Multimodal data collection—EEG, physiological metrics, structured interviews—is integrated using AI-supported pattern recognition.

Because this territory has not been studied in controlled scientific conditions, our research is inherently exploratory. The goal is not to confirm predetermined conclusions, but to document and analyze what we encounter.
Any insights that emerge will be shared openly through publications, collaborations, and public communication. We aim to contribute responsibly to the broader scientific and cultural understanding of human cognition.
Note: While our approach is scientific, the exploration of altered states is not new. Indigenous and shamanic traditions have engaged high-dose sacramental practices for millennia; this research seeks to study comparable states using modern methods.

Sven Kaufmann
Founder & Chairman
Sven is a serial entrepreneur with a focus on disruptive technologies, plant medicines, and food security. A longtime vegan, he is committed to addressing global challenges such as climate change and sustainable nutrition. Over the past decade, he has spent time with traditional practitioners in Peru and elsewhere, exploring perspectives that connect ecological awareness, human health, and technological progress.
Through his own experiences with high-dose psilocybin, combined with his background in technology and entrepreneurship, Sven became interested in whether extreme states of consciousness might contain insights relevant to science and society. This interest led him to establish the Apeiron & Nous Foundation, a research initiative dedicated to investigating these questions within a structured and transparent scientific framework.
